Guardianship

We provide legal assistance for persons needing to establish guardianship over minor children or incapacitated adults. We also assist guardians in meeting their legal obligations to the ward and to the court.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will it take to get a guardianship established in an emergency?

In emergency situations, a temporary guardianship may be established in a short period of time -sometimes as little as one working day. Powers of the guardian may be limited as directed by the court.

  • Do I need to do anything before I move my parent, who has Alzheimer's, out of state?

You will need to obtain the consent of the court in which guardianship was established before moving the parent. After the parent is relocated, you will need to establish the guardianship in the new state and terminate guardianship in the previous state.

Contact us for a personal consultation. Presentations are also available.
