Seventy-Five Years of Service: Ball Eggleston PC Celebrates a Landmark Anniversary
This year, Ball Eggleston PC is proud to mark its 75th anniversary, three-quarters of a century dedicated to the practice of law and service to the Greater Lafayette community.
A History Forged in Service
The firm’s roots trace back to May 1950, when Cable G. Ball, having returned from wartime service in the U.S. Army’s China-Burma Theater, established his law office in the Lafayette Bank & Trust building in Lafayette, IN.
Shortly thereafter, Mr. Ball was joined by Robert F. Munro, forming the firm of Ball & Munro. The firm saw its first change in January 1954, when Mr. Munro left to dedicate his time to serving as the Tippecanoe Prosecutor. In that same month, Warren N. Eggleston joined Mr. Ball, officially forming the enduring firm of Ball & Eggleston.
While the firm name went through various iterations over the years as more lawyers joined the practice, it finally settled on Ball Eggleston PC. In 1970, the firm, then known as Ball Eggleston & Bumbleburg, moved to its long-standing and current home at 201 Main Street, Suite 810, Lafayette, IN.
Commitment to Clients and Community
Throughout its history, Ball Eggleston PC has maintained a singular focus: meeting the highest ethical and professional standards while making its clients the centerpiece of all representations.
Just as strong as the firm’s commitment to its clients is its commitment to Greater Lafayette. The lawyers associated with the firm have made continuing and substantial contributions through community service, holding key leadership roles in various charitable and civic organizations:
Three chairmen of the Board of Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce
Three chairmen of the Board of United Way of Tippecanoe County
One fund-drive chairman of United Way of Tippecanoe County
One chairman of the Board for institutions including Lafayette Home Hospital, Inc., Greater Lafayette Health Services, Inc., and North Central Health Services, Inc.
Furthermore, the firm has been a foundation for judicial leadership, with five lawyers associated with the firm going on to become Judges in Tippecanoe County:
Robert F. Munro
Jack A. King
Steven A. Meyer
Randy J. Williams
Sarah M. Wyatt

Today, the firm continues its tradition of excellence led by its current members: Jack A. Walkey, Brenda Mithoefer Clapper, John P. Schafer, Brian A. Karle, Chris G. Stevenson, Elizabeth B. Searle, Jackie L. Starbuck, and James H. Cover. They are supported by Michael J. Stapleton serving as Senior Counsel and Joseph T. Bumbleburg, John K. McBride, and Brian W. Walker all serving as Of Counsel.
As we celebrate 75 years, Ball Eggleston PC remains dedicated to the principles of integrity, professionalism, and community service that have defined the firm since 1950.
